Logistics Coordinator

Company Overview: 

Apex Life Sciences is actively seeking a part time Procurement Coordinator with a company in Grand Island, NY.

The purpose of the Procurement Coordinator is to assist the Procurement & Logistics Specialist in ensuring that the items and services to build and maintain our products are purchased from specified suppliers and are delivered according to agreed terms and conditions. An important aspect of this role is seeking maximum value for the company through time and cost agreements. This role will start as part-time contract position (20-25 hours per week) with the possibility to evolve into full-time after 6-12 months.

 

Job Description: 

  • Track issues with specific vendors and communicate findings to buyers and project managers promptly and efficiently
  • Use a combination of internal tools and reports to effectively expedite the delivery of product
  • Create, distribute, and reconcile purchase orders
  • Work with all internal departments to answer questions relative to product, policies, and procedures related to quality of purchased goods
  • Maintain files, logs, records of invoices, purchase orders and other related documentation
  • Investigate order shortages, damaged & defective products, and correspond findings to appropriate parties to ensure resolution
  • Update tracking information and expected delivery times
  • Organize daily work, prioritize work time and effectively manage deadlines for projects as assigned
  • Research invoice errors and work with the warehouse to resolve pack slip errors.
  • Process reminders and order confirmations.
  • General office work – answering phones, opening mail, etc.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned by the Procurement & Logistics Specialist

Job Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal skills
  • Strong communication skills
  • Independent judgement is required to plan, prioritize and organize workload
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications

Work Experience

  • The Procurement Coordinator position requires an Associate’s Degree.
  • Previous relevant experience is preferred but not required
  • Familiarity with the scientific industry is preferred
