Manager, Tissue Recovery Operations

Apex Life Sciences is currently recruiting for a Full-Time Manager, Tissue Recovery Operations for our client in Jacksonville, FL. As a Manager in Tissue Recovery Operations, you will provide strong leadership and oversight of our designated recovery offices. This position manages staff, performance appraisals, compliance, training and preceptor, oversight of call schedules, and development of new procedures. The Manager embraces Lean concepts, drive those concepts to the technician level, and utilize these practices in developing systems and procedures.


  • Manages Tissue Recovery staff to ensure Federal and Industry regulatory compliance, optimize productivity and maximize the donation opportunity within assigned office(s).
  • Participates in Administrator on Call duties.
  • Acts as a change agent in the utilization of LEAN principles, analytical thinking and problem solving skills to identify areas for improvement, and manages the development of new processes and related policies and procedures.
  • Develops and monitors key performance indicators related to individual staff, office and overall geography performance, including financial metrics, and adjusts operations or recommends adjustments as necessary.
  • Identifies future leaders and develops professional growth plans and opportunities with individuals. Provides coaching and mentoring to staff as well as conducting routinely scheduled performance reviews.
  • Establishes and maintains positive relationships with medical examiners, pathologists, funeral homes and other key donation stakeholders in order to provide needed information to release tissue and support donor families.
  • Participates in the development of annual departmental strategic planning, goals and objectives and annual budgets (headcount, operational and capital).
  • Investigates customer complaints and internal errors, conducts root cause analyses, implements corrective and preventative actions and monitoring effectiveness of those actions.
  • Utilizes exemplary customer service in dealing with these issues.


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Biology, Chemistry or related field
  • Valid State Driver’s License
  • CTBS or achieved within 2 years of employment and maintained throughout employment
  • Minimum 5 years supervisory/management experience
  • Minimum 3 years related work experience in tissue banking, medical device or related industry
  • Demonstrated leadership, management and presentation skills
  • 7 years supervisory/management experience
  • Knowledge and application of LEAN principles and tools in problem solving/improvement activities (Value Stream Mapping, 8D, Fishbone, 5 Why or related)

HOURS: Some weekends and overtime required.  Days, evenings, on-call and weekends may be required.
